If Christopher Reeve were still alive, he would have turned 69 just a couple days ago. 🙏🦸‍♂️Reeve played a hero in Superman, but he was also a hero in real life. Reeve has been a continual hero of mine throughout my life but specifically at three different times. 1️⃣When I was a young boy who, after watching his films, idolized Superman. Reeve was THE Superman to me and was absolutely the best Superman of all time - I didn’t even realize there was any Superman other than him. 🦸‍♂️2️⃣When Reeve had his tragic horse riding incident which paralyzed him from the neck down. His fight to rebuild his life, founding of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation , and continual support of those with paralysis and other disabilities, impacted me greatly. I saw that a real Superman wasn’t just someone who wore a cape and was invincible. My image of a true Superman shifted into someone who displayed extreme courage overcoming his own obstacles, giving back in huge ways to help those around him. 👨‍🦼❤️3️⃣When I found myself in drama school, I again came across Christopher Reeve. I learned that he was a craftsman of the art of acting. He was a classically trained actor who continually battled with focusing on his craft and love of theatre while accepting the opportunities that were offered him in film. Reeve turned down countless action roles after Superman in order to focus on roles in film and plays that offered more complex characters. Again, Reeve became a hero of mine - this time an artistic hero. 🕴🎥🎭We miss him terribly but have been blessed by his life in more ways than one - as the hero Superman, as a courageous human and selfless humanitarian, and as a true master craftsman of acting. This guy was the real deal! Perhaps he or others have deeply impacted you as well? 🙋Thank you and Happy Belated Birthday Christopher Reeve (September 25, 1952 – October 10, 2004) 🙏🙏🙏“I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” - Christopher Reeve ✊#ChristopherReeve #Superman #RealLifeHero #ReeveFoundation #Heros #actinglegend #hero #reallifeheroes #actor #masterofacting #humanitarian #inspiration ...
